The new Melbourne Convention and Exhibiton Centre, opened in 2009, is one of the most visually striking convention centres in the world.
The Centre’s contemporary design features an 18-metre-high glass wall façade fronting Melbourne’s Yarra River, a fan-shaped 5000-seat plenary hall that can be divided into three self-contained, acoustically separate theatres, one with the capacity for 2500 delegates and two for up to 1500 delegates each, a grand ballroom and 32 meeting rooms of various sizes.
Specifically designed with the environment in mind, the new Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre has been awarded a 6 Star Green Star environmental rating by the Green Building Council of Australia, the first in the world for a convention centre.
