One of Melbourne’s most outstanding attractions, the 29 kilometre long walking and cycling Capital City Trail, completely encircles the inner city.

Developed in the early 1990s it traverses a number of parks along the Yarra River and  Merri and Moonee Ponds Creeks as well as Royal Park.

Dr Geoff Mosley (former CEO of the Australian Conservation Foundation and former IUCN Regional Councillor), who played a critical role in the Trail’s development, will lead the walk and along the way will explain the physical and historic features including the obstacles that had to be overcome for the track to become a reality.

Because of the length of the walk (the full circle) a medium level of fitness and stamina will be necessary. Walkers should have sturdy footwear and carry a day pack for their camera, raincoat, provided packed lunch, water bottle and money for a coffee stop.
