1. 1000 Cities 1000 Lives Melbourne
When: Sunday 11 April, 2010
Location: Palms Lawn, Albert Park Reserve, Albert Park Melbourne
1000 Cities 1000 Lives Melbourne is an all-ages family event to help raise awareness for public health in urban environments by taking part in a 5km walk or run around Albert Park Lake. It’s also a great opportunity to celebrate Melbourne’s rich cultural heritage by representing the city of your birth or just one you have a special affinity with.
There will be free yoga and tai chi in the park, warm up exercises with TV's 'Biggest Loser' Presenter Michelle Bridges, fantastic prizes, gourmet health snacks with a global flavour, music and dance from around the world and the chance to try your hand at sailing.
Kids will be catered for with a Children’s Village featuring a park treasure hunt, guest appearances by Ranger Roo, musical entertainment, a petting zoo and face-painting.
This event has been registered as a World Health Day 2010, a World Health Organisation initiative.
