Criteria for Proposals
Wherever possible, proposals should consider the inter-relationships between healthy parks and healthy people, not just one component.
Proposals should be current and relevant to one or more themes, subthemes and/or cross cutting themes.
Proposals crossing sectoral or disciplinary boundaries are desired, especially those that by content and format encourage interaction and collaboration.
Innovative initiatives are particularly welcomed.
Topics may be global, national, state or local.
The Congress will be conducted only in English. If you have difficulty with English, seek assistance to submit your proposal.
Some sessions will be held outdoors (please indicate your requirements in your abstract).
Proposal Format Options
This congress aims to be a memorable event with innovative techniques to involve delegates, including creative workshop and discussion sessions, inspirational speakers and enjoyable networking opportunities and social activities. Our objectives are to provide numerous opportunities for interaction, collaboration and innovation among delegates. With the focus on health and nature some sessions will be held in outdoor settings for the enjoyment of our delegates.
Program proposals are invited in the following formats, consider these carefully when deciding on the best way to deliver your topic.
Please note the format options will be confirmed and finalised on completion of the program.
Group discussion
Propose a topic for a large group (25-50) discussion that the proposer would be willing to lead and/or facilitate for a 90 minute session.
Thematic discussion workshops
Propose a topic for a consolidated presentation followed by a discussion workshop (60 minute presentation & 60 minute workshop) with at least 3 presenters or panellists (must be from different organisations and cross disciplines) that the proposer would be willing to lead and/or facilitate for a 120 minute session.
Knowledge café
Propose a topic for a small informal round table discussion with10-20 people that the proposer would be willing to lead for a 90 minute session.
Standard Conference Oral Presentation
Propose a presentation to showcase good collaborative practice (with outcomes) or contemporary research. Note: Presentations will be combined with others with a similar/related theme in a conventional session (20 minute presentations + 10 minutes for Question & Answers)
Speed Session
A brief presentation of 5 minutes followed by questions.
Poster
Your poster should be a maximum size of 1 metre wide by 1.2 metres high. Velcro to attach the poster to the display panle will be availablefrom the Congress registration desk.
You will be contacted with your exact session date and time as soon as this information is available. This will coincide with the full program details becoming available on the website in early February 2010.
Training Session/Master Class
Propose a relevant training opportunity that you would undertake to organise. Specify preferred duration and audience size. Any manuals or guidelines are to be provided by the proposer.

Review Process & Acceptance Notification
All proposals will be reviewed by specialist groups that have been allocated to each of the four congress themes. Review groups are made up of professional people who work in the theme areas from local, national and international organisations and come from private, academic and public or not-for-profit sectors. Each proposal will be carefully assessed against the criteria and a short list produced for each theme. The Program Committee will select the proposals to form the content of the program. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their proposal throughout September.
Optional Peer Reviewed Papers
Those who are offered a place within the oral program will be given the option to submit a paper of up to 5000 on their topic for peer review. The peer reviewed paper will then be published in the congress proceedings.

A program listing will be available in November on this webpage.
The Publications
If accepted to form part of the Congress program, your abstract will be included in the Congress Program and Abstract Book to be handed out at the Congress.
It is also intended that a Congress Proceedings will be produced and be available after the Congress. These proceedings will include the following:
For Oral Presentations - Your original 750 word abstract or 5000 word peer reviewed paper AND the electronic presentation you use at the Congress to deliver your paper.
For Group Discussions, Themed Workshops, Training Session/Master Class and Knowledge Cafés – A summary of the session.
For Speed Sessions and Poster presenters – Your original 750 word abstract
Additional Information
All speakers will be required to register and pay for the conference as a full delegate by J31 January 2010 for your abstract to be included in the congress publications.
Late proposals will only be considered should there still be spaces available in the program.
