The Congress team thanks the many partners for their generous sponsorship of the inaugural International Healthy Parks Healthy People Congress 2010. This event achieved its goal of setting the agenda for a better understanding of how nature significantly contributes to human health and well being.
The comprehensive, five day program of the Congress was truly outstanding, with close to 250 presentations. As a result, it attracted 1200 participants from 37 nations. Delegate feedback has rated satisfaction at well over 80% across all aspects and many of the international keynote speakers considered it the best conference they had attended.
The Congress also attracted significant national and international media attention, with over 100 stories generated. A small selection of these stories can be found on the media page of this website.
Premier Brumby announced at the Welcome Ceremony of the Congress, the Victorian Government has initiated the formation of a Healthy Parks Healthy People Directorate within Parks Victoria. The aim of the Directorate is to specifically deal with policy initiatives that better enable the connection of communities to nature for health outcomes.
