Joe Ross

altJoe Ross is Chairman of the Indigenous Water Policy Group (IWPG) (NAILSMA) and a member of the Bunuba people in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Joe is the former chairman of the Northern Land and Water Taskforce www.nalwt.gov.au  and has extensive policy experiences in the arena of remote community development. He is also currently involved in the establishment of the RIRDC, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander inaugural five year Rural Development R&D plan; The goal of which is to undertake research to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander success in Australian rural industries.



As Chairman of the Northern Australia’s Indigenous water policy group, he has been facilitating the group’s direction and objectives. The primary aims of the IWPG are to inform the Indigenous peoples of northern Australia about water reform under the National Water Initiative and to engage in research relating to Indigenous interests, rights, responsibilities and interest in water resources in the north of Australia.
