Truth in Art Awards announced

altClimate Change is the “inconvenient truth” already affecting our environment and the health and wellbeing of society.

The Truth in Art Awards is looking for you to express  this truth through tapping into your creative skills. We’re seeking a range of photographs, drawings, paintings, and sculptures to capture the impact of change and more importantly, provide ideas for a solution.

The competition allows individuals to explore the impact of climate change on people and parks through their own artwork and that of others. It aims to increase awareness of the value of parks and nature in adaptation to, and mitigation of, climate change.

Entrants will be encouraged to incorporate solutions and to generate discussion on ‘the way forward’.  As well as digital photographs, artists may submit digital reproductions of their artworks for the competition. This can include photographs of sculptures, drawings and paintings. Multiple entries are permitted and entrants will be able to tag their work as well as comment on the work of others.

We hope to attract both high profile artists and the general community to submit their work, with Janet Holmes a Court and Guy Abrahams judging the award. Entries will be judged according to engagement with the theme, artistic expression, quality of presentation and content.

Both open and youth (under16 ) categories will exist, with a people’s choice award via public on-line voting.  The closing date for receipt of entries is the 2nd April , 2010, with winners announced and selected artwork displayed at the Healthy Parks, Healthy People Congress.

The prize pool on offer is over $10,000.
